The foreclosure boom is hitting the for-sale residential market hard in many communities, but sales of single mobile homes are bucking the trend. The new wave of mobile homeowners, including middle-class professionals and even doctors and lawyers, is chipping away at the stigma formerly associated with mobile homes. The newest models are built to codes that make them safer during tornados or other natural disasters; and they feature the same appointments found in single-family homes, including Jacuzzis and fireplaces. "When I tell somebody I live in a trailer, the first thing they say is oooohhh, 'trailer park,' says Doris Cavey, who owns a mobile home in Maryland, where new singles cost as much as $60,000 and doubles command as much as $90,000. "No, it's a mobile home."
